Pallant Chambers > Set Profile
Pallant Chambers is a dynamic and forward-looking provincial set with a London ethos. It is committed, straightforward and full of knowledge regarding its specialist areas. The members have a background and backbone in litigation and can demonstrate regular appearances in cases in which one would usually expect the London Bar to be utilised. Their clients range from large corporations (Southern Water, RAC) and local authorities (Hampshire CC, Portsmouth CC, Southampton CC, West Sussex CC, Chichester DC) to renowned regional solicitors (Verisona, Coffin Mew, Thomas Eggar, Edward Hayes) with acknowledgement in The Legal 500.
The set: Since its formation in 1975 Pallant Chambers has developed into a highly specialist civil and family set serving the south of England and taking many large and high-profile cases in its areas of expertise. A strong focus on private clients and local authorities does not detract from its continuing commitment to legally-aided clients. It continues to build an excellent reputation in Chancery disputes through its carefully chosen recruits.
From its Georgian building in the heart of Chichester, chambers offers a comfortable and convenient location for conferences, although tenants are happy to travel to the offices of solicitors and clients where appropriate. The clerking team has extensive experience of listing in both the local courts and in London, and will always give frank advice on the best barrister for any particular case.
Types of work undertaken: The set has an excellent reputation in family law and civil law, particularly specialising in the following areas:
Civil: chambers has specialists in most areas of civil litigation, covering Chancery, property, tax, insolvency, building, employment, personal injury and clinical negligence, company, planning and professional negligence.
Family: chambers has agreed bindings with a number of local authorities and deals with many major care and financial remedies cases, with the usual attendance on contact and injunction matters.
