Position

Following a successful career in the City, Marc returned to the Bar to pursue a civil practice. Primarily a Chancery practitioner, he specialises in insolvency, landlord and tenant, probate and inheritance, but also has considerable experience in intellectual property, company law, partnership law, and employment law. Areas of practice: contract and commercial (contractual and building disputes; misrepresentation, sale of goods and consumer credit, professional negligence); all aspects of employment); probate and inheritance (construction of wills, contentious and non-contentious probate, applications under the Inheritance Act); and housing and landlord/tenant (business tenancy, agricultural tenancies, public and private sector, judicial review of housing decisions, claims for disrepair and wrongful eviction, homelessness and leasehold enfranchisement). Blake [1995] 1 FLR 70 – constructive trust; Stanhope Properties (overseas) v Oraby & Others – landlord and tenant – whether occupants who use residential premises as a hostel lose entitlement to Rent Act protection; Sandhu v Farooqui Property – adverse possession – whether a licence to occupy, pending the grant of a lease, was impliedly determined when it became clear that no lease was in fact going to be granted.
