Position
Chairman; head of firm’s insurance litigation and dispute resolution department and chairman of firm’s management board. Main specialist area: advising a wide variety of insurers in claims involving high value and complexity, ranging from property damage and coverage issues to personal injury cases involving maximum severity injuries and disease (especially asbestos related). Has lectured widely to the profession and insurance industry on various aspects of insurance, with particular reference to quantification of damages in PI cases. Also provides advice to police authorities on matters relating to complaints, discipline and conduct. Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in personal injury law.
Career
Served apprenticeship with Sir James Falconer, Town Clerk, Glasgow Corporation 1973-75; assistant Holmes MacKillop 1977, partner 1979; Notary Public 1978; co-founding partner Andersons 1994; accredited by Law Society of Scotland as specialist in personal injury law 2003. Won ‘Solicitor of the Year’ at the Law Awards of Scotland Ceremony in September 2009 and won ‘Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year (Defending)’ at the Eclipse Proclaim Awards Ceremony in London in November 2009.
