John Dickinson is a barrister specialising in commercial and chancery litigation with an emphasis on banking, company, partnerships and probate disputes. Areas of practice: banking, including charges, cheques and bills of exchange, guarantees, restitution, subrogation, and consumer credit; contracts, including sale of goods, restraint of trade and retention of title; company, including shareholders' disputes and directors' duties; financial services; fraud, including tracing and other equitable remedies; pensions; partnership; property litigation, both commercial and residential, including conveyancing disputes, and rights of way; professional negligence, including solicitors, accountants and financial institutions. John's Chancery practice includes disputes concerning trusts, settlements and wills, and contentious probate work. Qualified as chartered accountant 1991; practised for five years, latterly at Coopers & Lybrand for the BCCI investigation; he also spent a number of months in 2002-03 acting as counsel assisting Lord Penrose's inquiry concerning Equitable Life; called to the Bar 1995.
