Notable Cases: R v Merlin Ferry [May 2011]. Media Reports: ‘Daily Mail’, ‘Manchester Evening News’, ‘Daily Express’. Kane obtained a first class degree from the University of Leeds and subsequently studied for an LLM. He joined Chambers in 2009 following successuful completion of his pupillage under Mark Laprell and Simon Kilvington. In his personal injury practice, Kane represents both claimants and defendants. His experience includes matters involving road traffic accidents, employers’ liability, occupiers’ liability, credit hire and public liability. Kane frequently appears in trials, interlocutory hearings and disposal hearings in personal injury matters. He is also developing a paper practice, drafting and providing legal and tactical advice in a range of cases. Kane also has a general criminal practice and specialises in defending those accused of motoring offences. He also has experience of cash seizures under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. Prior to joining 18 St John Street Chambers, Kane worked as a paralegal in the litigation department at Slaughter and May.
