Position
Barrister specialising in insolvency law, banking, corporate and commercial law. Recent work includes major Guernsey unfair prejudice proceedings, European Directories, acting for many parties in Lehmans and Icelandic bank insolvencies, noteholders in Sigma (House of Lords) and Cheyne Finance, the administrators of Innovate in the Court of Appeal, the Australian liquidators of HIH in the House of Lords and the T&N pension trustees in Federal-Mogul, and the liquidators and administrators of Barings. Substantial involvement in almost all the major insolvencies of the last 20 years (BCCI, Maxwell, Olympia & York etc). More than 70 reported cases.
Career
Qualified 1972, Inner Temple; QC 1991; mediator, CEDR accredited 1997 and Court of Appeal panel member 2003; member ACCA disciplinary panel 2003-07; deputy bankruptcy registrar at the High Court 1987-99; admitted to the Bar of the British Virgin Islands and for specific cases to the Bars of Bermuda and The Cayman Islands. Publications of note include: editor, 'Company Directors' (OUP 2009).
