Nigel is one of the most experienced and sought-after television content lawyers in the country. Clients range from terrestrial broadcasters, publishers and large international television production companies with in-house legal departments, to small start-up companies, individual writers and artistes. Nigel advises on all aspects of media law (including defamation, privacy, confidence, copyright and contempt) and regulation (PCC, Ofcom), as they affect publishing and the making and broadcasting of television programmes and films in the UK.

Nigel has written a number of articles on media-related issues over the years and is the primary author of Channel 4’s and Channel 5’s ‘Independent Producer Handbook’, a comprehensive practical guide to the best practice, regulation and the law as they apply to the making and broadcasting of both broadcasters’ programmes. Equal in scale and ambition to the ‘BBC Guidelines’, it is now the benchmark for best practice training and is made available in hard copy and online.
