Position

Sarah has a wealth of experience in her two practice areas, family law and clinical negligence. She has extensive trial experience in the County and High Courts, as well as appearances in the Court of Appeal. In each of her practice areas Sarah is noted for her thorough approach and for her client skills. Family: Sarah’s family practice has a particular emphasis on ancillary relief (including applications under Schedule 1), in which she is instructed on a wide range of cases, from those involving high-net-worth individuals with complex financial arrangements to more modest cases. She has recently lectured on ancillary relief. Sarah also has extensive experience of private law Children Act applications, including permission to remove children permanently from the jurisdiction, and has a developing practice in child abduction. Clinical negligence: Sarah has extensive experience over many years in clinical negligence work (medical and dental), including injuries of maximum severity. Having studied pre-clinical medicine at Cambridge, Sarah is able to handle the more complex evidence. Many of her cases involve difficult factual and legal issues, and often involve multiple experts. Cases in which Sarah has been involved comprise a wide variety of medical fields, including obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, accident and emergency, orthopaedic surgery, cardiology, neurology and neurosurgery. Recent successful examples (from many) include: birth injuries (cerebral palsy); negligently performed knee surgery (settled for £1.25m); ENT, failure to diagnose and treat post-operative ear infection leading to septicaemia and foot drop; paraplegia following misdiagnosis of a spinal tumour; negligently performed prostate surgery.
