Position

Barrister specialising in commercial law, particularly insurance, reinsurance and international trade. Cases include: Commercial Union v NRG [1997] (liability under XL reinsurance in respect of Exxon Valdez); Shinhan Bank v Sea Containers [2000] 2 LLR 406 (banking fraud); BMBF v Harland & Wolff [2001] 2LLR 227 (CA) (stage payments on sale of drilling rig platforms); Quorum v Shramm [2002] LRIR 292 (insurance on major Degas picture); Copenhagen Re [2001] and [2003](CA) (reinsurance market test case on whether loss of 15 Kuwaiti aircraft and BA aircraft arose ‘from any one event’, the invasion of Kuwait); Feasey v Sun Life [2003] CA (insurable interest and PA insurance); IMG v Simmonds [2003] (contingency insurance of cricket series between India and Pakistan); Glencore v Alpina [2004] (major marine insurance claim) ; Lincoln v Sun Phoenix [2004] CA (binding nature of previous awards); MAN v Freightliner and Ernst & Young, 18-week trial, £350m in claim for fraudulent sale of shares.
