Position

Sarah was appointed Queen’s Counsel and Senior Treasury Counsel in 2014. She is on the Attorney General’s list of special advocates. Sarah prosecutes and defends in a wide variety of cases, many of which are high profile. They include murder, terrorism, corruption, sexual offences, fraud and cybercrime. She appears on a regular basis in the Court of Appeal on behalf of both the defence and the prosecution as well as on behalf of the Attorney General. She is also instructed to appear in the High Court in judicial reviews and appeals by way of case stated. Sarah also undertakes extensive advisory work for public agencies, corporates and private individuals on a wide range of topics. As a former banker, she has an excellent understanding of corporate and financial matters. Sarah is a contributor to Ormerod and Montgomery on Fraud (Oxford University Press); Millington and Sutherland Williams on The Proceeds of Crime (Oxford University Press); and EU Law and Criminal Practice (Oxford University Press).

Career

Called 1993; Junior Treasury Counsel 2006; Senior Treasury Counsel 2014; Queen’s Counsel 2014. Advanced advocacy tutor, Lincoln's Inn. Attorney General’s list of Special Advocates. Member of the International and the Training and Accreditation committees of the Advocacy Training Council. Formerly a banker with experience in both domestic commercial banking and international capital markets, ending as assistant director, Barclays de Zoete Wedd.

Education

St Andrews University (MA Hons); University of Westminster (Graduate Diploma in Law). Inns of Court School of Law. Winner of the Sir Louis Gluckstein Advocacy Prize, Lincoln’s Inn 1993.
