Position

Dorian has been Queen’s Counsel in England and Wales since 1993 and is one of the UK’s and Commonwealth’s leading criminal advocates. His area of practice involves all aspects of criminal work, defending and prosecuting, including homicide, firearms offences, commercial fraud, bribery and corruption, the large-scale importation and supply of drugs, and sexual offences. He has been referred to in The Lawyer as an “exceptional jury advocate.” Since 1994, Dorian has been widely involved with the Bar Council, the Criminal Bar Association, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the British Council in programmes of judicial and legal reform and advocacy training of prosecutors and defence lawyers, particularly in Europe and Latin America.

Dorian’s cases include: R v Marrache and Others (largest fraud trial in the history of Gibraltar); R v Donald and Others (triple murder during Birmingham riots); R v Thakrar (triple murder by two brothers over aborted drug deal); R v Skinner (one of the longest fraud trials in history arising out of tendering contracts for the Jubilee Line extension).

Recorder of the Crown Court 1989-2006; Chairman of the Police Appeals Tribunal 1991-present; Appointed Queen’s Counsel 1993; Elected a Bencher of Inner Temple 1998; Chairman of the Bar Conference 1999; Member of the Foreign and Commonwealth Pro Bono Lawyers’ Panel 2002-present; Member of the Advocacy Training Committee.
