Position
Barrister specialising in construction law, including particularly electrical, mechanical and process engineering; instructed in numerous international (including ICC) and UK major engineering/building disputes, both litigation and arbitration (including frequent appointment as an arbitrator, mediator, adjudicator and dispute panel member) concerning, inter alia, complex engineering projects (especially power stations), defence, computer facilities, chemical processing, food and drink production, oil and gas rigs, hospitals, motorways, bridges, tunnels, dredging, water treatment, airports, abbatoirs, nuclear fuel processing, telecommunications and commercial property.

Qualified 1978; Gray’s Inn; QC 1994; practising Queen’s Counsel; recorder, senator of the Engineering Council 1997-2002, vice-president of Institution of Electrical Engineers 1998-2001. Practised in UK and abroad as professional electrical engineer, employed by, inter alia, GEC (South Africa); Reyrolle Parsons, Matthew Hall and Rendell Palmer & Tritton; lectures widely in UK and abroad on legal and engineering matters, particularly international construction contracts; chairman IEE/IMechE Model Form Contracts committee; former member of TECBAR Committee; former examiner in contract law, RICS; numerous publications on legal and engineering topics published in journals both in UK and abroad; CEDR-accredited and registered mediator. Editor of the ‘Engineers’ Dispute Resolution Handbook’.
