Position

Barrister practising in product liability (including pharmaceutical and medical device litigation) and personal injury; landlord and tenant including covenant enforceability and leasehold enfranchisement; commercial property including 1954 Act work, dilapidation claims, mortgages and easements; health and safety; human rights; insurance; professional negligence cases involving solicitors, architects, brokers, surveyors and valuers; general contract and tort; has appeared before a variety of tribunals, including the House of Lords and Court of Appeal, and has advocacy experience as a junior in a range of High Court litigation. Reported cases include: Young v Catholic Care and others [2008] UKHL 6; Sun Life Assurance Plc v Thales Tracs Ltd [2001] 1 WLR 1562; [2001] 34 EG 100; Dunlop v Medd Racing and Racing Lines (GB) Ltd [2002] BLD 180102111. In 2005 was appointed junior counsel to the Crown (‘B’ panel) by the Attorney General and in 2008 was appointed a deputy adjudicator to HM Land Registry.

Career

Spent two years in Japan on a Japanese Foreign Office programme; called 1993; judicial assistant to Lord Woolf MR; Lord Denning Scholarship, Lincoln’s Inn; Mansfield Scholarship, Lincoln’s Inn; Inns of Court Scholarship; Hardwicke Scholarship, Lincoln’s Inn; publications: contributor to the ‘Civil Practitioner’s Guide to the Human Rights Act 1998’ and ‘Halsbury’s Laws of England and Wales’ vol 37; contributor to real property section in Butterworth’s ‘Civil Court Precedents’; has conducted a series of seminars on procedural issues for professional clients.
