Duncan Jones specialises in defence advice and advocacy in all areas of criminal and regulatory law, with a particular emphasis on fraud and financial crime, regulatory litigation and corporate crime – areas in which he is experienced beyond his call. Duncan’s practice encompasses proceedings in the Crown Court, Magistrates’ Court and regulatory tribunals. He advises clients both before and after charge, and he is frequently instructed to challenge decisions to prosecute. He acts as a led-junior and junior alone. 


Called 2012, Inner Temple. Prior to coming to the Bar, Duncan worked at Corker Binning, a leading firm of solicitors, where he gained considerable experience of a range of white collar and general criminal matters including international bribery and corruption, fraud, regulatory offences, serious violence, sexual offences and driving offences. Duncan assisted with research, analysis and advice to a variety of clients including governments, corporations, bankers, politicians, sportsmen and private individuals. He worked on several sensitive and high-profile investigations and prosecutions including the parliamentary expenses investigation, and the Pakistan cricketers’ spot-fixing trial. Duncan has specialist experience of litigation concerning the proceeds of crime, including cash seizure and forfeiture proceedings, restraint and asset recovery, having worked as a Legal Officer in the criminal finances litigation department of HM Revenue and Customs. In private practice, he was also employed by a leading firm of solicitors acting on behalf of HMRC in the VAT and Duties Tribunal where MTIC fraud was alleged.
