Position
Specialist in all areas of town and country planning, compulsory purchase and compensation, local government, environmental, public and administrative law. Important cases include: acting for Essex County Cricket Club at the inquiry into the redevelopment of the Ford County Ground, Chelmsford; successfully opposed the Moorsyde Windfarm Scheme, Berwick-upon-Tweed; acting for Union Railways (the undertaker nominated by the Secretary for State for Transport) in respect of compensation claims arising from the Channel Tunnel Rail Link; major retail (eg new Lidl food stores in Ely, Leicester, Oxford and Croydon, the redevelopment of the Harlequin Centre, Watford and the extension to MetroCentre, Gateshead), housing (eg major schemes for Persimmon Homes, Redrow Homes, and Fairview New Homes, with particular experience of the impact of PPS25 on flood risk), historic environment cases (eg development within a Registered Battlefield Site, and the redevelopments of Gloucester Docks, Spitalfield Market and Bristol Harbourside); aerodrome inquiries (eg Elvington, Sywell, Turweston and Truro); motorway service areas and park and ride schemes (eg MSA’s proposed for the M5 and M25, Watford Park and Ride for Capital Shopping Centres, and Hatton Cross Park and Ride for London Underground Ltd); and numerous listed building and conservation area cases; also appeared before the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands into the promotion of a hotel development.
