Serious crime, cybercrime specialist (including lecturing), fraud, regulatory work and inquests both in the UK and Commonwealth jurisdictions (private and legally aided). A member of the Serious Fraud Office’s QC trial panel (since April 2013.) Appeared in some of the countries’ most well-known cases throughout his career including the appeal of Jeremy Bamber,  the prosecution of Burger Bar members for the killing of Charlene Ellis and Letisha Shakespeare – the so called "New Year’s Day Shootings”, the representation of one of the “M40 Bikers” for murder, successful representation of a man accused of murder during the Birmingham riots and a of a man accused of abduction and murder of a policeman’s daughter involving a nationwide manhunt.. In recent years Michael has been involved in further infamous cases such as representing the world-renowned surgeon accused of signing his patients’ livers during surgery (R v Bramhall - Dec 2017).

Excellent track record in both achieving successful prosecutions and in securing defence acquittals including:- fatal petrol station  stabbing in Coventry (R v  Vastaki-Barsby - Dec 2017) , the Shepherds Bush murder trial (R v Yousef Mohamud - Aug 2017) and of an accountant accused of a  large scale £5 million HMRC gateway/tax website fraud ( Sept- Nov 2017).

Recent instructions include representation of the first defendant in a multi -handed historic grooming and trafficking trial in Leeds (Jan – March 2018) involving cross examination of vulnerable witnesses on behalf of all the defendants in the trial (following the Bradford “grooming” trial ruling). Representation of the first defendant in a gang related “execution” (April to May 2018) 

Particular expertise in cell site and technical evidence resulting in instructions in many large scale multi- handed conspiracies to supply drugs and conspiracies to murder. Called to the Cayman Island Bar on two occasions, to successfully represent defendants accused of gang related murders in two separate trials.
