Position

Bridget has a broad practice spanning commercial and chancery litigation and arbitration. A significant part of her practice relates to offshore litigation with a particular emphasis on company and insolvency proceedings and civil fraud. She acted as lead Counsel in the Cayman Islands’ litigation relating to Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi and Brothers Company v Saad Investments Company Ltd, and appeared for successful Defendants in the year long trial. She has also advised in various cases alleging misrepresentation and breach of duty relating to fund management in Guernsey and Jersey. She acts in minority shareholder, joint venture (including in telecom and energy sectors), and limited liability partnership disputes, and actions relating to investments (including allegations of misrepresentation and breach of warranty). She also advises on regulatory and insolvency issues relating to solicitors and financial services regulatory proceedings. Her practice includes cross-border merger applications, and insurance business transfer schemes.

Bridget Lucas QC – who was was appointed silk in 2018 – represented several Cayman companies in AHAB v Saad Investments, which involved over two million disclosed documents and significant Saudi elements; she was initially led by Marcus Smith QC (as was), but took over the lead role after his appointment to the bench.
