Position

A razor-sharp advocate, Mark’s notable cases include representing Steve Wright, the ‘Ipswich serial killer’, as well as R v Marchese (made into a film screened on ITV: ‘U B Dead’). He led for the Crown in the first prosecution of an MEP for expenses fraud, R v Wise. Described as ‘extremely hard-working, and very bright’, Mark wins praise for his ‘impressive experience in serious fraud cases’. This includes widely reported trials such as R v GG & others, a cartel case concerning generic drug companies that went to the House of Lords, and R v Cowie & others, an alleged conspiracy to defraud the Bank of England of billions of pounds. Highly ranked for his fraud and crime practices in the current legal directories, Mark spent the formative years of his practice development, on secondments to Lloyds of London in the regulatory proceedings department and also at the FSA where he supervised and ran dozens of cases through the PIA Tribunal. This experience led to him successfully undertaking a great many cases, some of which were considered beyond his call, on behalf of the FSA. More recently he has been involved in a number of serious corporate matters; he is instructed by the AADB and undertakes appeals to the FSMA Tribunal.
