Position
Stewart Boyd has appeared as counsel in the English courts and in other courts of the Commonwealth, in the European Court of Justice, and in many arbitrations in England and overseas (including the United States, Bermuda, the Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore and Hong Kong). He has been appointed an arbitrator in numerous international commercial disputes, including arbitrations held under ICC, ICSID, LMAA, LCIA and UNCITRAL Model Rules. Those have involved disputes in many fields such as agency, banking, shipbuilding and off-shore construction, energy, oil and gas, international carriage and sale of goods, competition, and information technology. He has assisted in the drafting of legislation concerning arbitration, including the Arbitration Act 1996. He has given expert evidence on English law to courts and arbitrators in the United States, Australia, Europe and Asia. He is a co-author of ‘Mustill & Boyd Commercial Arbitration’, and senior editor of ‘Scrutton, Charter Parties and Bills of Lading’.
