Position
Barrister who is particularly well suited to big trials where he is ‘able to turn cases on their heads through powerful advocacy’. Specialising in banking and finance, often with a maritime background, carriage and sale of goods, commodities, insurance, insolvency and shareholder disputes. Stephen has a wide practice in modern chancery and commercial matters. He relishes difficult cases that span practice areas and is widely regarded as an excellent problem solver. As well as his mainstream work he has worked on many high-profile cases involving prominent individuals and has acted for barristers’ chambers, a law professor against a member of the judiciary, and pop stars. Has recently acted for Korean Bank in a $98m Hedge Fund dispute and insureds in a £26m total loss, ship owners in various charter party disputes, Paramount Airways, and is engaged in various FFA disputes and ship building disputes. Practises in Chancery, Commercial and Mercantile courts as well as the Court of Appeal.
