Position

Kathryn is a specialist criminal practitioner who has experience in a wide range of criminal cases. Her client base regularly instruct her in cases involving serious violence and large-scale public disorder, drugs, firearms, sexual offences and fraud. Kathryn has particular experience of dealing with vulnerable defendants and those who suffer from a range of mental health problems and as such she has a sound knowledge of ‘fitness to plead’ procedures in the Crown Court. Kathryn is also regularly instructed in cases involving vulnerable child witnesses. Kathryn is frequently instructed and has a particular interest in defending individuals who are referred to their regulatory body. She has a solid reputation as a practitioner who regularly successfully defends registered nurses before various panels of the NMC throughout the country. Kathryn has extensive experience in representing individuals for both interim order and final hearings; she is frequently successful in ensuring that individuals are found to be ‘fit to practice’. Kathryn has produced advices for the Police Federation in an action against Hampshire Police Force, and she is experienced in advising on stating cases to the High Court and Judicial Review. Kathryn advises some of the largest taxi firms in the country on taxi licensing matters and has advised on actions against various councils. Kathryn also advises on gambling licenses.

Career

Called 2008; Middle Temple. Before her pupillage Kathryn worked at Goldman Sachs in London. Kathryn also completed a postgraduate law degree at the University of Oxford where she conducted extensive research into the International Criminal Court. Notably, she wrote an article on Genocide and the International Criminal Court under the supervision of Professor Andrew Ashworth QC.
