Position

Robert is regularly instructed by insurers, government departments, trade unions and individuals. He has particular experience in industrial injuries and occupational disease work, including asbestos claims, NIHL, HAVS, respiratory disorders, stress, and work related upper limb disorders. Robert has been involved in some of the most complex and high profile work in the disease field, including the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Deafness Test Litigation heard by the Supreme Court (Baker v Quantum [2011] UKSC 17); the Phurnacite Workers' Group Litigation (cancer and respiratory disease); Thomas and others v Arriva Trains Wales Ltd (upper limb disorders); as well as the BT workers' deafness claims. Robert is also expert in employers’ liability work (appearing, for example, in the Supreme Court in Cox v Ministry of Justice [2016] UKSC 10).
