Criminal.

Position

Particularly interested in all areas of criminal law. Regularly appears in the Crown and Magistrates Court on behalf of the prosecution and defence. Recent instructions in the Crown Court have involved a range of offences including charges of fraud, burglary, handling stolen goods, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, possession of offensive weapons, dangerous driving and aggravated vehicle taking. Appears in a full range of summary only trials at the Magistrates Court and appeals against conviction/sentence. Particular experience of road traffic and violence matters at first instance and on appeal at the Crown Court. Currently undertaking a secondment working as a prosecutor in the prosecution department of the environment agency.

Career

Called 2009, Inner Temple. Prior to qualification at the bar held numerous positions, including legal roles in different parts of the world. For example, worked for a law firm in Texas that represented indigent defendants on death row, New Zealand’s leading criminal law barrister and a Member of Parliament, which included assisting in the organisation of events for the Prime Minister and Home Secretary.

Education

Manchester Metropolitan University (2009 BVC); The University of Liverpool (LLB).

Leisure

Keen on sport and travel – completed a ‘round-the-world’ trip in 2007 (this included a road trip to California on Route 66 in the United States and tours of South America, New Zealand, Australia and Thailand).
