David’s practice principally covers personal injury, regulatory law and police actions. In the field of police law, David acts on behalf of the police, defending and advising on civil actions, including malicious prosecution, false arrest, false imprisonment and assault. David also has enormous experience of advising in and presenting civil applications on behalf of the police, including football banning orders, risk of sexual harm orders, closure orders and anti-social behaviour orders. His experience includes applications to the High Court. He also advises the police in the conduct of investigations and other evidential matters. In licensing, David acts principally on behalf of the police and local authorities and has great experience in advising and appearing as an advocate, including applications for judicial review and case stated. In personal injury, David has a broad and busy practice covering all areas, from fast-track to large multi-track and High Court actions. He acts on behalf of both claimants and defendants and has particular expertise in employer’s liability, public liability and road traffic, including fraud. In other areas David acts on behalf of claimants and defendants in clinical negligence. This wider practice also includes applications to the CICA, CRU appeals and applications on behalf of local authorities wishing to assert public interest immunity in the Crown Court.

An accomplished and talented cricketer, David won a Cricket Blue at Oxford in 1991 and is a member of the MCC, representing them on tours and managing fixtures on their behalf. He enjoys playing and watching all sports.
