Position

Tim takes instructions in administrative, commercial and competition/European law. Recent administrative law work includes appearing in the Supreme Court (as junior to Sir Sydney Kentridge QC and Tom Adam QC in R (on the application of Prudential & ors) v Special Commissioners of Income Tax & ors [2013] UKSC (1) and advising Ben Emmerson (the UN Special Rapporteur for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism) in respect of his intervention before the European Court of Human Rights in Application no 28761/11 Al Nashiri v Poland. In commercial law, Tim regularly advises and appears in matters with a cross-border element. He is instructed alone by the Department of Posts of India in Triangle Management Services v India Post (Case HQ11XO4625), before the High Court. He also recently appeared (as junior to Richard Lord QC) before a specialist arbitral tribunal in a matter concerning a futures contract valued at $3.5m. Tim also has a developing practice in both the public and private law of financial services regulation: he has advised the FSA/FCA on the impact of the Financial Services Bill 2012 and been instructed alone in matters connected to product misselling. In European and competition law, Tim has advised (as junior to Nicholas Green QC) a major utility company concerning its relationship with its regulator and on a major public procurement matter valued at £30m (as junior to Margaret Gray).
