Position
Mediator: now practices full time as a specialist commercial mediator. By July 2009 he has mediated over 700 commercial disputes, with sums in issue in individual cases of up to £2bn. Initially he specialised in shipping, insurance and reinsurance disputes (he still mediates many such cases) but he has now mediated disputes of every legal type. Has consistently featured as one of the top ten UK commercial mediators for the last 9 years. Arbitrator: regularly sits as an insurance, reinsurance and commercial arbitrator.
Career
Called 1976; Grays Inn; QC 1997; Bencher 2005; CEDR-accredited and registered mediator March 1998; co-author of ‘Insurance Brokers’ in Professional Negligence (LLP, published December 2000); speaker at numerous insurance, reinsurance and mediation seminars. Active in Community Mediation movement. Founder Director and trustee of Wandsworth Mediation Service. Was secretary and vice-chair of Mediation UK.
