Position
Commercial barrister with broad litigation and arbitration practice in England and abroad, including Dubai, Bermuda, the BVI and Strasbourg. Having acted for the Russian Federation last year in Yukos v Russia before the ECHR, Michael is acting again for the Russian Federation in substantial Strasbourg litigation this year. He is also lead counsel in commercial hearings in Qatar (bank insolvency) and Dubai (joint venture dispute), alongside commercial litigation and arbitration in London. Michael also has particular experience of commercial arbitration (including, for example, international shipping, reinsurance and trade arbitrations in London and Bermuda form arbitration in Bermuda). His particular specialisms include: International trade, fraud, insolvency, insurance, reinsurance, private international law and human rights (particularly in commerce and conflict situations).
