Position

QC specialising in EU law, public law and human rights. Jemima’s public law and human rights work have taken her to the Supreme Court and to the Grand Chamber of the ECtHR. She has appeared in more than 50 cases in Luxembourg and her EU practice includes competition law cases in the CAT, Commercial Court and Patents Court. She was part of the team for the OFT in the bank charges litigation and has particular EU expertise in the areas of pharmaceuticals and telecommunications. Important cases include Short Selling (constitutional challenge to financial regulation, CJEU), Premier League (football broadcasting, CJEU); St Prix (pregnant worker rights, Supreme Ct and CJEU); Jones & Mitchell v UK (state immunity and torture, ECtHR); and R (Luton & Nottingham) v S/S for Education (JR of building schools for the future cuts, Admin Ct).

Called 1993, Middle Temple; tenancy at Brick Court Chambers 1995; junior counsel to the Crown (A Panel) 2007; silk 2010. Publications: ‘Striking a Balance: Privacy v Freedom of Expression under the European Convention on Human Rights’, published in ‘Developing Key Privacy Rights’ (Hart 2002); co-author of ‘Competition: Understanding the 1998 Act’ (Palladian 1999).
