Position
Barrister specialising in commercial litigation, shipping, insurance, reinsurance and banking. He has appeared in many major commercial cases at trial and appellate level. He is currently instructed for ITV in its disputes against SW, for FGIC in the litigation arising out of the credit crunch against IKB, and for Gulf Keystone in litigation over oil rights in Kurdistan. He has recently appeared for the Steamship Mutual in relation to disputes concerning the impact of Iranian sanctions. He regularly sits as an arbitrator, frequently as chairman or sole arbitrator.

Reader of the Inner Temple; took silk 1990; chairman Law Reform Committee 1992-94; chairman Professional Standards Committee 1996-98; Recorder 1997; chairman of the Bar of England and Wales 2000; contributor to ‘Paget on Banking’ (11th ed) chapter on money laundering.
