Position

Piers practises exclusively in the field of children law, undertaking complex and important cases at first instance and on appeal. His practice now principally comprises private children law cases, with particular emphasis on child arrangement issues, relocation (international and domestic), LGBT parenting, surrogacy and parental order proceedings. He has extensive experience of public and private law cases involving allegations of very serious physical or sexual abuse and entailing the analysis of complex expert evidence. His practice also includes child abduction and jurisdictional disputes. He is frequently instructed on appeals on novel or complex points of law. Piers has appeared in numerous reported cases and is recommended for children law by all the major guides to the legal profession.

Called 1991. Silk 2010. Co-author of ‘Contact: The New Deal’ (Family Law, 2006). Co-author of ‘The Public Law Outline: The Court Companion’ (Family Law, 2008). Updater of the children law volumes of ‘Halsbury’s Laws of England’. Regular lecturer on children law topics. Trained as collaborative counsel.
