Client Testimonials
CLIENT: Andy Lee
COMPANY/FIRM: Reeds Solicitors
TESTIMONIAL: Charles Row is an excellent and impressive advocate who is always outstanding not only in his preparation but also in his presentation and delivery of cases. He has an ability to digest large volumes of evidence in such a short amount of time and to quickly identify the issues and explain them in plain and simple language to clients. He is by far one of the best jury advocates and never ceases to amaze.
CLIENT: Amy James
COMPANY/FIRM: DAS Law
TESTIMONIAL: Having worked closely with Queen Square Chambers for several years, I remain an advocate for their personal approach, extraordinary attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile. Even if not formally instructed, Counsel are always happy to help out with a query and we are even lucky enough that they take time out of their busy diaries to attend a meeting with the employment litigators every few weeks to provide informal opinions on our cases.
I also receive frequent great feedback from our clients who have been represented by various Counsel at hearings; this really does help our business to provide a great service to our customers. No case we instruct Counsel on however complex or “messy” it may be, is ever too much. Particular members of Chambers who should receive a formal thank you from me for all of the help that they have provided to me over the years are: Mark Williams, James Bromige and Charles Murray.

COMPANY/FIRM: Devonald Griffiths John Solicitors
TESTIMONIAL: James Tucker, Queen Square Chambers
James is meticulous in his approach in defending clients in serious and complex cases.
Very much an advocate who we consider to be the leading advocate of the Junior Bar in South Wales and South West of England. Much sought after when considering representation for those in drug conspiracy cases and sexual offences. His technical ability and application is nothing but exceptional. James’ approachable demeanour allows clients to feel at ease in comprehending challenging and testing issues. Recently James secured an acquittal for a client in a million-pound national drug conspiracy trial.

COMPANY/FIRM: Dunn & Baker
TESTIMONIAL: Fantastic Chambers, used on a regular basis – efficient service always received and they are always happy to help wherever possible even at short notice, particular thanks to the Clerks Jess Street and Tom Cole who I liaise with on a regular basis!
CLIENT: Craig Tickner
COMPANY/FIRM: Aidan Woods & co
TESTIMONIAL: Queen Square Chambers has been a long established Bristol set of chambers with a number of highly experienced counsel available to cover a broad range of high-end criminal cases, from complex frauds to serious sexual offences and murder. There is also an exciting set of new members which means that there is plenty of capable counsel to cut their teeth on the more regular criminal work.
Robin Shellard is a vastly experienced advocate who is both thorough and tactical, whilst at the same time installing confidence in his clients by communicating to them in a way that enables them to understand and grasp even the most complex of legal issues. Also very personable which makes juries want to listen to him.
James Tucker is a very capable barrister who is always meticulously prepared and ever available to provide advice and assistance to those that instruct him. His patient approach with even the most demanding of clients sets them at ease and enables cases to progress where others might struggle.
CLIENT: Ann Kaplan
COMPANY/FIRM: Dunn & Baker
TESTIMONIAL: I would highly recommend the family law team members from the clerks through to the barristers. I regularly, on behalf of my clients, instruct those specialising in private and public children law. Clients appreciate the attention to detail shown to their case and the consideration they receive from the barristers. The team at Queen Square Chambers are always happy to try and find ways to assist even in urgent situations.
CLIENT: Philip Crosbie
COMPANY/FIRM: Eversheds Solicitors
TESTIMONIAL: We have instructed Oliver for the best part of a decade on environmental, health and safety and maritime matters and have absolute confidence in his ability to adapt to client needs and demands. Oliver has an exceptional enthusiasm to understand the detail and intricacies of a case, and its fact pattern, and works with clients to ensure that he is well-versed in their business processes and overall mind-set. Clients are regularly impressed by his advocacy in Trial or Sentence, but the ‘homework’ and effort that Oliver puts into the preparation of a case is what sets him apart.
CLIENT: Beth Robertson
COMPANY/FIRM: DLG Legal Services
TESTIMONIAL: I have been dealing with the barristers at Queen Square Chambers for approximately 6-7 years in relation to various employment law issues including unfair dismissal, EAT, all types of discrimination and TUPE. I have dealt regularly with Mike Blitz who is very personable and approachable. Mike is knowledgeable and grasps complicated issues with ease. James Bromige is highly skilled in technical legal issues and is confident and convincing. The clerks are always friendly and accommodating. I can rely on those from Queen Square to give top notch representation and advice for our clients.
CLIENT: Matthew Graham

TESTIMONIAL: I have been using Queen Square Chambers in respect Criminal Work for over a decade, and they continue to be the leading set in the South West. Professional, innovative and expert, they also encourage a culture of high end success, with members able and willing to go beyond the basics, particularly when clients require or demand particular attention. I have recently and consistently instructed Mr David Maunder in heavyweight privately funded trial and guilty plea sexual offending work, with very notable success. He is thorough and courageous, with superb oral and written advocacy skills.

CLIENT: Beth Wycherley
COMPANY/FIRM: DAC Beachcroft
TESTIMONIAL: I regularly instruct Queen Square and am always impressed by the quality of, not only the advocates, but also the clerking services.
In particular, Charles Row is an exceptional advocate bringing a reassuring presence, polished advocacy and a diligence and eye for detail which makes him a real pleasure to instruct and to work with. Mr Row has a way of putting clients at their ease, even in the most testing of situations, which is second to none. He is a fantastically able trial advocate and readily commands the respect of clients, opponent and the judiciary. Mr Row is an incredibly able lawyer but manages to relate to clients in a way which provides them the benefit of his intellect and experience but in a way which never feels lecturing, but which guides, and reassures them they are in safest of hands.
Another stand-out advocate at Queens Square, whom I regularly instruct, is Ellen McAnaw. A relative new-comer to the bar (who was previously a duty solicitor/solicitor-advocate) she is a very impressive advocate, whilst also being fantastic with clients. Ms McAnaw is tenacious in Court yet reassuring and personable with clients. One gets the feeling she really gives her all to secure fantastic results for the client. Certainly, I have had absolutely glowing feedback from clients.
One of the joys for me of instructing Queen Square Chambers is the very high standard of clerking. Their criminal clerking team, headed up the by very experienced Colleen Inker, provide fantastic service to those instructing the criminal team. They provide a reliable, straightforward approach to clerking which is precisely what criminal clerking requires; they are unflappable when diaries collide and they are creative when solving problems. Ms Inker, in particular, has had the trust of local firms of solicitors for many years as being a completely safe pair of hands; a well-earned reputation in my view. I regularly rely upon Ms Inker’s insight and expertise and always welcome her honest and unfussy approach. Harry Partridge, the junior criminal clerk at Queen Square, is a relatively new addition to chambers, but is already making an excellent impression.
