Lloyd handles patent and design prosecution work in diverse engineering fields including miniature precision motors, white goods, digital watermarking, social computing, cyber-security and nano-engineering whilst retaining an active involvement in encryption techniques, telecommunications, electronics and computer/software related inventions. Portfolio management is a large part of Lloyd’s workload: taking on large volumes of cases and overseeing and apportioning the work throughout the firm and then maintaining an overview of the IP portfolios to support litigation strategies. Lloyd manages patent and design litigation matters for his clients as well as conducting due diligence exercises on third party IP portfolios. He delights in getting his clients the right form of protection for their innovations: beit their football shirt designs, encryption techniques, gaming systems or aircraft seating. Llloyd represents clients with UK originating work and European patent prosecution work as well as handling portfolios of non-European cases for national institutions. He regularly represents his clients in oral proceedings before the European Patent Office Examining Division, Opposition Division and Board. Lloyd’s key practice areas are: aerospace and defense; electrical engineering; mechanical engineering; automotive engineering; civil engineering; software/computing; digital security and rights management; metallurgy and materials; medical devices; designs (registered and unregistered); licensing.

Starting January 1st, 2013, a new tax law (Law No. 822, Tax Concertation Law) came into force in and completely changed the taxation system in Nicaragua. Two years later a new law was issued by the National Assembly containing more than 80 amendments, additions and repeals (Law No 891) which came into force December 18th, 2014.
