On 12 May 2010, the EPO Enlarged Board of Appeal (EBoA) announced its decision in G3/08, thereby providing guidance on how the EPO should assess claims relating to computer implemented inventions (CIIs).

Dr Nina White, a partner in Boult Wade Tennant’s Biotechnology and Life Sciences Group, will be speaking at the 10th annual Intellectual Property Law Summer School from 16 to 20 August 2010 at Downing College, Cambridge. Nina will be presenting the patent workshop on “Biotech and Pharmaceutical Developments”.

Michelle Pratt is a member of the firm’s Chemical and Materials group. Boult Wade Tennant is delighted to announce that with effect from 3 August 2009 Catherine Wolfe is joining the firm as a partner in the Trade Mark Group.

On 8 July 2009 the European Commission published its final report into possible anti-competitive practices in the pharmaceuticals sector. The investigation was prompted by a perceived decline in new drugs reaching the market and possible delays in the market entry of generic drugs.
