Boult Wade Tennant Partner announced as the new ITMA president

May 2012

The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) has announced Boult Wade Tennant Partner, Catherine Wolfe, as the Institute’s new president.

Catherine, a Trade Mark Partner at Boult Wade Tennant and former Vice President and Treasurer of ITMA outlined her short, medium and long term aims for ITMA at the President’s inaugural reception last night. She urged guests to give generously to the ITMA Benevolent Fund; she pledged to give support to the new non-core skills programme (a joint initiative with the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys) and set out the goal of reducing ITMA’s carbon cost.

Of the appointment, Nick McLeish, Managing Partner of Boult Wade Tennant said: “We are delighted at Catherine’s recent appointment as President of ITMA. It represents a terrific achievement both personally for Catherine and for the firm. I know she will achieve the goals she sets for the Institute and will deliver on her promises.”

Commenting on the appointment, Catherine said: “I am excited by the opportunity to be President of ITMA, and look forward to working with my colleagues on the projects I have outlined. I have succeeded an outstanding President, Maggie Ramage, and am proud that my appointment makes an unprecedented run of three female presidents.”

Catherine joined the trade mark profession in 1995, having graduated from Trinity College Cambridge in 1991, where she read Oriental Studies (Chinese) and received a PhD in Anglo-Saxon Literacy in 1994. Elected to ITMA’s Council in 2004, she became a Fellow in 2008. In 2010 Catherine became a Trade Mark and Design Attorney
