Boult Wade Tennant is absolutely committed to equal opportunities and to enhancing the diversity of the firm. We believe these principles are important contributing factors to the ongoing success of the firm. Our culture is built on fostering a supportive working environment, one where everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our HR strategy ensures that we are fair to all staff and continually monitor the effectiveness of our inclusion and diversity policy. We demonstrate our commitment to gender diversity through a range of ways including being a member of the 30% Club, a group committed to better gender balance at all levels of their organisations.

Charity and Pro Bono

Social responsibility is an important part of our ethos, which is why we are committed to supporting and working with our charity partners. We are very proud to be a supporter of Family of Hope, a charity dedicated to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for children with special education needs.  Last year, we updated their website which has been hugely beneficial in raising awareness and generating increased donations from the public.

We also support The Brilliant Club, a charity that is dedicated to creating greater access to highly-selective universities for pupils from under-represented groups. They recruit, train and place doctoral and postdoctoral researchers in state schools across the UK. We have donated much of our time and money to their programmes, including donating funds to help develop future educational modules.

In addition, we invest a great deal of time into pro bono work. A snapshot of the pro bono work we have undertaken in just the last year includes:

  • working for a charity which manufacturers a range of highly fortified pastes for the prevention and treatment of malnutrition for use around the world;
  • taking over the worldwide trade mark portfolio of an international humanitarian organisation;
  • working for a national charity for a number of years, including in connection with a dispute with a major US broadcaster and advising in various other complex and potentially disruptive disputes for the charity; and
  • provided a service to a charity perfume, registering their trade mark to help establish it as a popular perfume.

As a firm, we are conscious of the environmental impact and legacy we will leave for future generations as well as our responsibility to the wider community. We have set ourselves ambitious environmental targets to help us reduce our carbon foot print and help us support businesses that share our environmental values. We aim to reduce our carbon emissions by focusing on reducing business travel, initiating power saving technologies and increasing the efficiency of our heating, water and lighting systems. We recycle as much as we can and are always looking into new ways to recycle more efficiently. Since 2015 all our recycling has been handled by the same company who supply our stationary, meaning less carbon emissions on delivery and collections.
