Successfully defended clients in high-profile major murder cases, including R v Bird and others (the execution of married couple on witness protection programme in their seaside bungalow); R v Toseland and others (the illegal bugging of suspects and their solicitors at Grantham police station, leading to proceedings being stayed in multimillion-pound murder enquiry). Trained Canner Vaughan & RT Wright; qualified 1983; joined Freeth Cartwright and Sketchley 1983; formed Cartwright King along with fellow former Freeth Cartwright partners Mike Thurston and Mark Wilson 2000; pivotal to the growth of Cartwright King (now 25 partners and over 130 staff) to date, including the establishment and development of the Leicester office in 2003; appointed Higher Courts Advocate in 2007 (crime) and currently heading the HCA and Crown Court department; since 2000 has remained as a consultant at Freeth Cartwright LLP. Regular contributor to local press and radio.
