Position
Partner since 2003, mentioned in the 2004 and 2008 editions of this publication in the business defence regulatory team, and has substantial and expanding regulatory defence practice, with particular specialism in health and safety matters. Routinely advises individuals, national and multinational companies in relation to extremely serious workplace incidents and situations that might lead to significant reputational consequences for the business and those concerned with running it. In addition to health and safety core practice, he also includes defending actions taken by any regulatory authority that can initiate a criminal investigation, eg Ofcom, Trading Standards, Environment Agency, DBERR. The skills he acquired in criminal courts and police stations are vital in advising clients and avoiding damaging prosecutions.

Career: Trained Eddows Waldron Solicitors, Derby; qualified in criminal defence work, 1996; duty solicitor 1998; joined Cartwright King, specialising in regulatory defence work, 2002; partner 2003. Continues to attend the police station and Magistrates’ Court, specialising in regulatory defence work dealing predominantly with corporate clients.
