Katherine specialises in commercial property with particular expertise in relation to acquisitions, disposals and regeneration and development work. She has broad experience in drafting and negotiating development agreements, building leases, occupational leases and other ancillary documentation. Katherine is also experienced in acting for both landlords and corporate occupier tenants in drafting and negotiating conditional agreements for lease, leases and other ancillary documentation required for all landlord and tenant relations. She advises numerous local authorities and public sector clients on their property needs. Recent work includes advising South Gloucestershire Council and the University of Bath on the acquisition of Bristol and Bath Science Park and advising the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice on their property portfolios.

Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP handles asset management and letting work for a variety of well-known landlords and tenants, and is also instructed by local authorities and house builders in connection with land acquisitions and regeneration projects. The team handles letting work nationwide, which has included Katherine Douglas advising Mewburn Ellis LLP on the relocation of its Bristol office, and William Akerman assisting Associated British Ports with the lease and operation of a new freight terminal in Southampton. Similarly, Craig Moore, who handles ongoing property management work for Flybe Group, advised Rittal on the lease acquisition of its new UK HQ in Canary Wharf. Tom Willows has advised Bellway North East on a litany of site acquisitions, and also acted for The Vista PRS Fund in relation to its forward commitment to purchase a PRS scheme in Liverpool, which is yet to be developed. Alistair Walton heads the retail sector group, which acts for clients including New Look Retailers, Specsavers, River Island Clothing Co and Decathlon UK. Jonathan Bower heads the team and focuses on infrastructure planning, energy and regeneration projects. Charles Robson deals with development and financing of infrastructure projects. Kevin Gibbs specialises in regeneration and infrastructure schemes. Patrick Wetherall deals with high-value real estate disputes. Katherine Douglas acted for Three Rivers District Council in relation to a mixed-use regeneration project in partnership with Countryside Properties (UK) and Home Group to develop over 500 new homes, this deal was worth around £172m. Another highlight includes the successful defence of West Berkshire District Council in the High Court in relation to a judicial review and procurement challenge brought by Faraday Development. A further highlight includes acting for Tewkesbury Borough Council and Watford Borough Council in relation to the purchase of an industrial site at Challenge House.

Simon Hughes, who leads the group‚Äôs energy and natural resources property practice, advised Dudgeon Offshore Wind on the leasing arrangements and associated rights for a ¬£1.5bn offshore wind farm development and continues to assist the client with landowner negotiations for the 48km landward side cable. Hughes also acted for a consortium of local authorities in connection with the land acquisition and agreements for the reopening of passenger train services between Bristol and Portishead. Similarly, Katherine Douglas¬†assisted Three Rivers District Council with the CPO strategy, planning process and development leases for the ¬£172m mixed-use South Oxhey Initiative.¬†Andrew Harding¬†advised Bristol City Council on the conditional sale of a high profile site to the University of Bristol. Managing associate Mark Li¬†assisted Network Rail Infrastructure with the grant of the South Western Franchise for passenger trains to First MTR South Western Trains, which involved leasing arrangements at 185 rail stations and eight light maintenance depots. Womble Bond Dickinson (UK) LLP handles contentious and non-contentious planning mandates for public and private sector clients involved in major national energy projects and regeneration schemes. Jonathan Bower and Katherine Douglas are assisting West Berkshire District Council with the planning aspects of a number of regeneration projects in Newbury, including a mixed-use development at Parkway and the regeneration of an industrial estate at London Road. In the energy space, Victoria Redman advised Vattenfall on the planning aspects of two new offshore wind farms. Similarly, Bower and Redman are handling the land negotiations and strategic planning issues for two multibillion-pound energy developments.     On 31 May 2019, Malta published the “Consolidated Group (Income Tax) Rules". The rules will come into force as from year of assessment 2020 and the rules introduce the concept of fiscal units into Maltese tax law .
