Partner and head of trade marks group. James has extensive experience of handling multi-jurisdictional clearance searching, advising on filing strategy, trade mark related litigation and handling anti-dilution campaigns.

Called to the Bar 1996; Inner Temple; Trained Clifford Chance LLP; qualified as a solicitor 2000; qualified as a trade mark attorney 2000; J A Kemp & Co 2002; partner 2004. James is a qualified UK trade mark attorney and member of ITMA, a European trade mark representative and holds the Trade Mark and Design Litigator Certificate. Publications: co-editor of ‘The Trade Mark Handbook’.

Sits on the council of FICPI (UK); rapporteur to FICPI international (CET group 9); former council member of ITMA and board member of the Joint Examination Board; sits on the working group of OHIM’s Cooperation Fund as a professional advisor.
