It advised a syndicate of banks led by Banco Santander on the financing of Técnicas Reunidas' new working capital. On the borrower side, it assisted Neinor Homes with a bridge facility agreement granted by JP Morgan; as it is governed by English law, Madrid-based Spain and UK qualified lawyers cooperated on this matter. The multi-disciplinary team is led by financial and banking expert Jesús Zapata, and Javier Santos, who is particularly experienced in litigation and regulatory matters. The firm advised the Department of Energy of the government of South Africa on the implementation of its gas-to-power programme, as well as assisting Everwood Capital with the acquisition of 25 solar photovoltaic plants in Murcia.   • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.
