Position

Orson advises Spanish and international clients on all aspects of real estate investments, development, funding, construction, management and commercialisation of different real estate assets, varying from commercial projects, to offices, hotels, logistics parks and holiday and residential units. He has been involved in a wide range of real estate transactions including real estate financings, sale and purchase of national and international portfolios, structuring and launching of real estate funds and commercial leases. He also has extensive experience in international transactions, M&A, joint ventures and restructurings.

Career

Orson Alcocer joined DLA Piper as a partner in the Real Estate Department in April 2009. He is a regular contributor with articles on real estate issues for daily newspapers and specialised press and also he is a lecturer in the real estate courses of ENAE, the Business School of Murcia University. he is currently the Head of the Real Estate department

  • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.
