Camilla Wollan leads DLA Piper Norway's finance regulatory practice. She has extensive and broad experience within the various aspects of Norwegian finance legislation and with particular emphasis on cross-border finance, regulatory and compliance advice. Camilla counsels regulated entities on their day-to-day operations, establishment and restructuring of regulated entities as well as regulatory aspects of portfolio sales. Further, she advices on product requirements applicable to consumer credit and payment services and drafting of permits and applications to the regulators, as well as compliance and AML issues. As part of this practice, Camilla mentors and works with Fintech start-ups and advices on new business models in the Norwegian market. Camilla also advises on distribution and marketing of funds into Norway.

Alexander Plows leads the department at DLA Piper following Runar Hansen's departure to Bull & Co Advokatfirma AS in 2018. The group is a key name in the market for reinsurance and professional liability work; recent highlights include defending Multiconsult in a professional liability claim. The team also assisted Palaistra with its acquisition of an interest in Silver Pensjonsforsikring and advised Brightstar International on its provision of a mobile insurance programme to Telenor. Associate partner Camilla Julie Wollan is the key name for regulatory issues, associate partner Beate Vesterås (who joined from an in-house position) focuses on professional liability work and lead lawyer Linn Kvade Rannekleiv joined from Wiersholm in 2018.

  • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.‚Ä©
