Are Hunskaar is an experienced and sought after lawyer within the construction industry. For almost 20 years he has assisted contractors, consultants and builders across the country. Hunskaar has through his experience within of a broad spectre of cases, gained a great understanding of the dynamics and responsibilities of the different roles in the industry. Are Hunskaar has litigated more than 150 cases in the Courts and has been admitted to the Supreme Court. He has a great insight in the business as well as an understanding of the different parties’ interests.

With notable expertise across construction projects and litigation,¬†DLA Piper¬†acts for a national and international client base, which includes Veidekke, China Communication Construction Company and Mesta. The group also assisted the Sichuan Road and Bridge Group with issues relating to its tender to build a bridge over Beitstadsundet, represented Cowi and AIG Europe in a dispute relating to the construction of a slaughterhouse, and advised the Municipality of L√łrenskog on the construction of new roads and bridges.¬†Are Hunskaar¬†leads the department, which also includes the highly regarded¬†Arne Enges√¶th,¬†Hans Christian Brodtkorb¬†and development project expert¬†Kjell-Andr√© Honerud.

  • Sentencing guidelines for corporate manslaughter

    In February 2010 the Sentencing Guidelines Council (the SGC) issued definitive guidelines to courts on imposing appropriate sentences for corporate manslaughter and health and safety offences causing death. The SGC states that fines imposed on companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter should not fall below £500,000, while fines in respect of health and safety offences that are a significant cause of death should be at least £100,000. Crucially, the SGC declined to provide for a fixed link between the imposed fine and the turnover or profitability of the offending company.‚Ä©
