Our Inclusion & Diversity commitment is a global one and a key part of our strategy to be the most inclusive firm.  Accountability is driven through the Global and Regional Boards, with our Global CEO, Elliott Portnoy, leading the Global I&D Leadership Council with leaders from across our regions to shape the global I&D strategy.  This includes global policy development and co-ordination of our women’s and LGBT networks across the firm.  In 2019, we ran The Big Inclusion Project, a collaboration of 12 cross-regional teams of lawyers and business services professionals working together to identify and solution inclusion topics.  2020 was our Year of the Ally and also saw the launch of our Accelerating Race strategy to advance our progress on race diversity and inclusion.

We start with inclusion as we believe that inclusion will help drive greater diversity, whereas diversity is not enough on its own.   Our I&D strategy is organised around the three key pillars of Talent – to attract, retain and progress the best people;  Culture – to be the most inclusive firm; and Clients – to collaborate with our clients on I&D and progress priorities together.

In terms of breadth and reach we have a broad commitment to I&D, rather than a single focus, with programmes on gender, ethnicity, LGBT and social mobility.  Many of our people are engaged in these efforts via our diversity networks – Inspire, our gender network; Black Professionals Network; Fusion – our Asian professionals network;  Parents and Carer’s; and Glow – our LGBT network.
