Ann Bigué is a member of Dentons' Commercial Law group.

Position

Her practice focuses on regulatory law and Aboriginal Law, in the fields of energy, mining, natural resources and environmental assessment. Prior to joining Dentons Canada LLP in 2010, she practised with other leading Canadian law firms in these areas of practice, after acting as Counsel to the National Energy Board in the early years of her career.

In the context of her practice, Ann provides strategic advice to corporate clients on various issues relating to Aboriginal and treaty rights, the Crown duty to consult and accommodate, Aboriginal land claims and assertions and related statutory and regulatory matters, in connection with energy, mining and natural resources development projects. Ann has extensive experience in the negotiation of agreements between governments, Aboriginal communities and project proponents related to the development and implementation of energy, mining, infrastructure and industrial projects in Canada as well as aboriginal issues pertaining to forestry development activities. In this regard, she advises our clients on relationships with Aboriginal communities and on negotiations of MOUs, Pre-Development Agreements, Impacts and Benefits Agreements, Cooperation Agreements, and similar agreements. Over the years, she advised clients in complex litigation matters relating to Aboriginal rights involving important hydroelectric development projects and forestry management activities in Quebec.
