The firm acted as lead legal adviser to the Qatar 2022 Bid Committee on forming the commercial entity which submitted the World Cup bid to FIFA, as well as forming the local organising committee due to stage the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and advising on aspects of the bid. The firm also advised on the enactment of laws to accommodate FIFA’s requirements for hosting the World Cup, provided opinion letters to FIFA, and worked with the state of Qatar to deliver governmental guarantees to FIFA covering tax, immigration and security. Other clients include Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar National Bank Al Islami, Ezdan Real Estate and the Qatar Football Association.
