Career

Pedro Muñoz is a partner at Dentons Muñoz who leads our M&A and antitrust teams in Costa Rica. His practice also focuses on real estate and his work has covered civil and commercial litigation.

With a broad range of corporate legal experience, Pedro has attracted many important clients and built a strong reputation as a leading legal strategist in Costa Rica. Pedro has worked with many leading global brands, successfully launched law offices in Costa Rica and Nicaragua and became the joint Founding Partner of Arias & Muñoz in 1998.

In addition to his private law experience, he is active in the public sector and in the national and international legal community. He served as advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Rights in 1999, as a professor of Public International Law at the University of Costa Rica Law School in 1993, and was a visiting professor at Renmin University in Beijing, China in 2011.

Recently, Pedro pioneered Costa Rica's role in the cultivation of Sino-Costa Rican business and investment relationships and participated in some of the first transactions between China and Central America. In 2009, he represented the Bank of China and Sinosure in the first Sino-Central American financial transaction with ICE, the Costa Rican state-owned telecommunications company.

Pedro has a master's degree in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts (Fulbright Scholar).
