Nigel joined the firm in 1999 and is head of the health sector at DAC Beachcroft. He specialises in clinical risk claims and advising on healthcare risk issues. Nigel has acted for NHSLA since its inception, is client partner to the MDU, the State Claims Agency in Ireland and a number of NHS and private sector clients.

The firm acts for more than 300 NHS bodies and also private insurers and healthcare providers. It has recently dealt with cases involving outsourcing projects, defence of negligence claims, withdrawal of treatment applications and employment issues involving TUPE and age discrimination claims. The firm recently acted for a private mental healthcare provider in the acquisition of a provider of integrated care that owned specialised hospitals for patients with disabilities and mental health issues. This involved advising on complex and strategic issues such as due diligence, reorganisation and consolidation. Corinne Slingo leads the team and specialises in regulatory CQC work related to registration, inspection preparation and ratings issues. Health sector head Nigel Montgomery focuses on group actions and catastrophic injury work. Rachel Roberts-Jenkins is adept at handling clinical negligence claims, and Simon Perkins deals with medical malpractice issues and clinical negligence claims such as those relating to ophthalmology and plastic surgery.
