Specialises in all aspects of employers’ public liability and regulatory work. In particular, handles serious injury or fatality cases. Has a particular interest and expertise in disease cases, such as stress and upper limb disorder; involved in providing representation and advice in respect of police investigations/prosecutions for corporate manslaughter. Advises in relation to food and product safety, hygiene and labelling. Regularly undertakes the defence of prosecutions for regulatory breaches, which have significant impact on product brand.

Sally Roff heads the national safety, health and environment team at DAC Beachcroft LLP, which draws upon the expertise from lawyers from across the firm's network of UK offices including Bristol. Roff is 'capable of dealing with the most complex and serious cases' for organisations and individuals facing criminal investigations for corporate manslaughter, gross negligence manslaughter and potential health and safety, fire safety, and environmental breaches instigated by regulators including the Environment Agency and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Roff recently represented a large automotive parts manufacturer in the aftermath of a serious health and safety incident, including advising it on an internal investigation and in a hearing before the HSE (resulting in a fine of less than ten percent of the anticipated amount). Other highlights included providing advice to the van hire company following the high-profile terrorist incident at Finsbury Park mosque. Clients include Zurich, Allianz and RSA.

With over 100 fee-earners based out of the firm's Newport office with a focus on defence work and also operating as an integral part of the firm's wider national network,  DAC Beachcroft Claims Limitedhas the critical mass to handle volume work in addition to more specialist areas including catastrophic injury, credit hire and health and safety. Sally Roff handles  personal injury defence work within a health and safety context and as well as defending clients in the aftermath of an incident is also well-versed in advising on risk management procedures and training to avoid problems further down the line. Roff recently provided crisis response advice to the engineering arm of a major insurer in the aftermath of fatal injuries to two engineer surveyors in separate incidents within a few weeks of each other. Nick Mahoney handles large loss and catastrophic injury claims arising out of motor accidents, employers' liability and public liability claims; he recently successfully defended a major general insurer using remoteness causation arguments against claims made by a claimant alleging brain injury following an accident at work. Faye Fishlock heads up the office’s motor injury team and is also responsible for managing the firm’s public sector relationships, following the team’s recent appointment to the National Procurement Service (NPS) for defendant litigation work. Other recommended practitioners include  Emma Fuller, who heads the firm's credit hire practice and associate Sean Harris, who specialises in the defence of chronic pain and fibromyalgia claims.

Sally Roff heads the team and regularly defends corporate clients on investigations and prosecutions. Alongside associate Steven Harrison, Roff advised West End Motors on a police and HSE investigation involving an accident resulting from the collapse of a vehicle lift and assisted Fortec Distribution with inquest proceedings into an accident pertaining to an overturning forklift truck.  Harrison has 'an incredible work ethic', and 'leaves absolutely no stone unturned in his efforts'. Consultant Andrew Roach is also a key figure and 'rightly commands the respect of all practitioners in the field'. He recently assisted Parks London with a HSE investigation relating to a forklift truck injury and advised S&E LPG who was fined £26,000 after gas from an LPG vessel ignited and an employee suffered burns.
