Position

Manchester based partner specialising in commercial litigation, insolvency, fraud/asset recovery and a trained mediator. Sydney is a prominent and respected commercial litigator in the Manchester business arena and beyond and has featured prominently in the Legal 500 and Chambers legal directories for a number of years. Sydney acts for a wide range of clients including public and private companies, partnerships, directors, partners, professionals and office holders, as well as entrepreneurs, in a wide variety of disputes and difficult situations. Sydney’s experience includes contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership issues, emergency freezing and seizing injunctions, regulatory investigations, professional negligence, stock broking, banking and insolvency disputes (corporate and personal) fraud claims, investigations and asset and debt recoveries. Sydney is also experienced in mediations (he is a qualified mediator), arbitrations and adjudications and is appointed as a supervising solicitor on search and seizure orders.

DAC Beachcroft LLP's  ‘excellent’ department handles complex shareholder, contract, professional negligence, fraud and insolvency cases, acting for individual and business clients across the TMT, healthcare and insurance sectors. Highlights included representing the Right Honourable Charles Clarke in claims against Mirror Group Newspapers arising from the unlawful obtaining and misuse of private and confidential information, and representing DHL Management Services in relation to a series of anti-suit injunctions. Irlam Wharf Properties, Make Positive, RSA and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust are also clients. Department head Jan Levinson handles IT and outsourcing disputes as well as property claims and corporate matters, often with a cross-border element. Harald Loeffler regularly advises on misrepresentation, unlawful interference with contract and other economic torts, and professional negligence cases, while Sydney Fulda has a ‘wealth of experience’ in complex commercial cases. Senior associates Vicki Bates, who handles disputes involving insolvency practitioners, Andrew Martin, who specialises in shareholder, sports and licensing disputes, and Joanne Dumphy, who handles IT, insurance and healthcare cases, are also key members of the team.

As part of the firm’s Northern team, DAC Beachcroft LLP’s practice includes team head Jan Levinson, Sydney Fulda and Harald Loeffler, all of whom split their time between Leeds and Manchester.
